Studying is boring, everyone knows that, most of us normal people hate having to sit in front of a book on a subject that doesn’t interest us at all and having to spend a lot of hours of our free time studying a book and learning knowledge that in some cases we will never use in practical life.
But, what if I told you that most people don’t know how to study correctly? I’ve seen cases in which many people who spend the day studying fail, others get so bored that they can’t concentrate, others throw themselves away studying 6 hours a day because they waste time.
If you learn to study correctly, you will be able to optimize your time and your results, achieving better academic results in less time and achieving greater effectiveness.
This article is going to differ in some things that you will find in other Internet sites, I warn you that if you are a traditional student you are going to be surprised, since I am going to use some tricks that many people overlook and that I have used to perform authentic academic feats such as passing 6 high school subjects studying the day before.
What do you need to learn to study?
- Being a student.
- Textbooks and notes.
- Lots of willpower.
- A program to make timetables.
Instructions to learn to study
- Know yourself: A mistake that people make is trying to do what other people do, that is, trying to use the same methods that other people do. There are people who reason very well, others who have a good memory, others who stay very well with what is said in class, others need to say things out loud, others need to write them down. Try to find out what kind of study method works for you and what kind of study method is bad for you, the ones that go wrong simply try to improve them or change them for another. If you are going to go to high school or university, be realistic and no matter what your parents say, choose what you are good at, for example, if you are not good at reasoning, forget about science, if you are not good at memorizing, forget about things like history, if you have good abstract reasoning, roll for philosophy and creative careers.
- Organize the afternoon: Students seem to have little free time, between 6 hours of school, eating, soccer training, private classes and karate, you hardly have time for anything. That’s because you’re not organized, first get rid of private classes that you don’t need, discuss that with your parents as they tend to overload you with activities and private classes that you don’t need as it’s like going to class for the second time and then get out of other activities that you don’t like (parents doing their thing again). Finally, make a personalized study schedule for you, again without paying attention to your parents since they tend to believe that you need more hours than you really do, saturating your head with work. Plan the time and Put what you need to study and do your homework in the hours that you feel most like, also dedicate time to your life and do not be one of those students without a social life since you will end up bitter and without desire for anything.
- Listen in class: Classes are very, very boring, I know it is difficult to listen to the teacher, especially if you have attention deficit or you don’t like the subject at all, but attending class will help you save a lot of time studying, since you will learn the knowledge and when going to study, you will memorize them more efficiently and quickly.
- Out with the nonsense: Students do a lot of nonsense, 40,000 summaries, 40,000 notes, summaries of summaries, summaries of summaries outlines. All of that just wastes your time, unless you’re a person with a type of memory that fits well with schematics, you’re not going to get anything you can’t get with other methods. First of all, read over the agenda to find out what it’s about, then read and underline the most important (please, don’t be like my mother who underlined everything, because for that you don’t underline) and the rest is up to you, yes If you keep writing, then make some notes of what is underlined, if you keep reading, read it and if you keep saying it out loud, do so. What I do ask of you is that you don’t be the silly bird that knows everything by heart. I have seen cases of people who memorized math exercises in which if they changed a number they no longer knew how to do it. Reason what you read and say it in other words to the book. A good way to reason is to do exercises from the book or look them up on the internet, especially for science.
- Plan the exam: If you study, it is to pass the exam, since in most cases (removing languages or something you like) what you learn will not help you in real life at all. If you want to do it well, dedicate 10 minutes a day for each subject to reading the syllabus given the day before (if there are 10 subjects it will only take an hour and a half), it is a waste of time to study seriously a month before the exam already that you are going to forget and you are going to have to study it again, but reading is useful since you are making small ideas in your head. The week before the exam is when you should start preparing it, divide the study time into 45 minutes of study and 15 minutes of rest. In this way the brain will recharge the batteries and you will be able to perform better. Also, if you study, turn off the computer, the mobile and go to a place where there are no distractions, you will use the mobile during the break.
- The exam: The exam arrives, you have to pass it.
- Start with the easiest: Don’t get stuck in what you don’t know, start with the easy questions and end with the difficult ones.
- Put straw: If you don’t know what to answer, invent something but never leave questions unanswered (unless there are subtractions) since you can scratch tenths that can save your life.
- Good presentation: A good letter and a good order can influence the scoring system, giving better grades to well-presented exams.
- Read the statement carefully: Don’t rush and read the statements carefully, since sometimes people get involved in answering things that don’t make sense. For example, if it says what is the difference between X and Y, limit yourself to writing the differences, not defining everything.
- Get oil: In the exams, especially in the test type, there are oversights on the part of the teacher, in which in the statements of some questions, answers to previous questions are given. For example.
- Who was the Roman dictator who conquered Gaul?
- When Julius Caesar conquered Gaul, who did he defeat? Thanks to this question we know that the answer to the previous question is Julius Caesar.
- Review: When you finish the exam, read your answers carefully and correct any spelling mistakes.
Tips for learning to study
- How is the teacher: There are little tricks that few people know.
- The September recovery exams: They are usually simple and similar to those of June, or even identical. When you finish an exam, write down the questions in a notebook, so when you get to the September exam you have a 90% chance that similar or the same questions will fall. Study the questions simulating that you are taking an exam but with the book, when the exam arrives you are going to remember your answers and you are going to nail them, getting a score without effort (this is my secret).
- The teachers are not equitable: this, no matter how much they deny it, is so, if you behave well in class, you attend and they see you make an effort, they will correct you upwards, giving you more points. If, on the other hand, you’re lazy, you don’t go to class and he has a mania for you, he’s going to correct you downwards.
- I have an exam tomorrow: So you’re one of mine, don’t worry, all is not lost for you.
- Leave the computer: When you finish reading this turn off the computer and leave the distractions.
- Remember the questions and what was said in class: The teacher usually emphasizes what can fall on the exam, since we don’t have time to memorize everything, we are going to study the most general, what can fall.
- Study in the morning: It is better to study before the exam in the morning than at night, since we don’t have much time, we are going to get up a couple of hours before the exam and study whatever falls. The pressure will make us learn better, that is if you will have forgotten everything when you leave the exam.
