What Is Technology – Definition, Meaning, Concept

One of the great advances in this century, in which we live, is undoubtedly technology. It grows by leaps and bounds and at an astonishing speed. What ten years ago were “ideas” or had been invented, have now been renewed, giving rise, for example, to incredible mobile phones with the latest technologies, which do everything. Or robots… that are dangerously similar to humans and so much so, that they talk, walk, run, jump and can do the same tasks as humans. If it wasn’t for technology, all of this would be impossible.

That is why defining the word technology is nothing more than a science (that is more than clear) that has been applied to help people solve certain problems. It serves so that we can obtain more knowledge, learn, make our work easier, and so on.

If we talk about technology, we could immediately make some very simple examples that everyone is seeing and/or using continuously and on a daily basis. Of those who, without technology, nothing could have happened or been done and thanks to this, they greatly help the daily life of all people.

Instructions

  1. Some of these everyday examples are mobile phones, computers, cameras, televisions, household appliances, cars, smart watches, drones, planes, machines, trains… and a very long etcetera.
  2. The word technology is actually made up of two words that, as always happens, comes from the Greek. These two terms are as follows. -techno (taken) which translated means art and the other term -logia (lodge) which means that it serves or has skill. That is to say, if they come together, the word technology comes out, which would be the art to be able to have the skill of something. And that is precisely what technology is used for. To be able to help us daily, with things.
  3. What would have happened to humans, without technology… that year after year has been improving people’s lives in an unthinkable way and why not also say it, the quality of life. Some examples to give you an idea: the washing machine, the fridge, the freezer… just with these three electrical appliances, life has already changed to not only be able to eat better, but also help a lot to work much less (as would be the case if you had to go to the river to wash clothes). Other technological inventions that have been crazy and a real revolution have been drones. Those small flying machines that are capable of recording, listening and moving where people cannot.
  4. Therefore, defining the word technology would be or is a science and it is designed to help human beings not only to repair, but also to study, to be able to analyze, to have many improvements in their day to day, in the short and long term and for years to come. All this always, we try to always be in a safe, calm and better way.
  5. In industries, as we already told you, technology has also had a lot to do with it. And let’s not say anything at the computer, physics, engineering level, and in the following chain, it would also include communications (very important) and health. If it had not been for technologies, many diseases could not have been cured or treated as they have been for a few years. And of course there is still a lot to achieve, a lot to achieve, a lot to create… but that is what technology is for, ultimately, to develop and even be able to say over the years that many diseases or serious health problems are they can cure or paralyze their deterioration and/or progress.
  6. For example, talking about technology is also talking about anything or an invention that helps us improve in any field. It doesn’t have to be really technological. It can be something as simple as a pen for writing. Obviously, “someone” had to invent it, to invent it, to try it, to devise it, to think about it, etc. All this, with the idea of being able to write. From there, things got better, it developed, it was tested until it found the printers and if we continue, today with the scanners, the printers, the fax, the 3D printers, the printers to print from the mobile photographs, photo printers, etc.
  7. Today, in the 21st century, we can say that technology differs in several areas. For example, there is the technology called flexible, soft technology, hard technology, equipment technology, cleaning technology, operation technology, and product technology.
  8. Properly said and cataloged like this, it may not sound familiar to you… but if we break it all down a bit, it sure sounds familiar to you.
  9. Flexible technology: this type of technology has several types of technologies and they are designed to be able to mold and make it unbreakable without losing aesthetics as far as possible. An attempt is also made to devise, so that they are economic products, that their prices are not made more expensive and that they are not almost prohibitive. Therefore, they do not stop investigating because people continually change and vary their tastes, suggestions, needs… wanting certain colors, sizes, etc. And in that, the companies play it because it will depend on being able to sell more or less products.
  10. Soft technology: refers to this type of technology, when they are advanced concepts such as marketing, organization and administration. These types of technologies are intended for a human area that is dedicated to making decisions in order to develop all the strategies.
  11. Hard technologies: are those that are intended for a specific use, as is the case of being able to assemble in technological systems to help. Over the years, compliance with the environment has been improving a lot, which should not only come from the companies themselves, but it is a duty and although it is true, that each time it has been improving and there has been more awareness about it, also It is true that not everything that should be done is done. They always try to make new things, they are as creative as they can due to the great competition and they are in continuous development.
  12. If a comparison is made or an attempt is made to summarize what soft technologies and hard technologies do, it could be said that, between the two, they are needed. Because what soft technology does is try to improve how the raw materials are used and, therefore, the entire process to produce the materials.
  13. Equipment technology: technology as a whole. That is to say, the stipulated norms must be carried out both in the elaboration, as well as in the studies and their use. As it is a team, it refers, of course, to work teams. To the machinery. They are extremely important in technology and they help so much not only to be able to investigate but to carry it out with development.
  14. Operation technology: it is the technology related to the evolutions according to the knowledge that has been acquired over the years. It is not achieved from one day to the next… it is achieved after many years of research, of being on the edge, of many experiments…
  15. Product technology: the type of knowledge that is carried out for the common good. That is, we explain it better. That, if a company wants a certain product and it wants it in such a color, such a size, such indications… it must be carried out according to their requirements. No more. In order to achieve this, many years must be spent, many experiments, many trials, many errors too… in order to achieve success and obtain what they demand. On the other hand, they do it continuously, according to the needs and tastes of all consumers.
  16. Cleaning technology: it is the technology that they always use as a resource in a logical and complete way, so as not to harm the environment. What is tried is to preserve it as far as possible. To do this, they try to make the changes that are necessary to pollute the environment as little as possible. They try, for example, to make energies that are renewable, they use energies that are not polluting (we all know that these are wind, solar, tidal…), and of course they do not dump waste in forests, or in ponds, or to the sea… because that is another method of contamination. Compensating with waste to recycle and continuously inventing to collaborate in it.
  17. Technology took a long time to become known and we had to wait for wars but it started and continued to this day and all that remains is that, having seen what we are seeing, we have no doubt that it will not only be unstoppable, but that it will attract things very important or even dangerous, because let’s not forget that technology, as in everything, helps but it can also have its drawbacks if it is not used for good purposes or is done incorrectly.
  18. In fact, it is only possible to look back, to realize that technology has always existed to a greater or lesser extent, but it has existed. For example, the nomads already had technology. No, of course they did not have telephones, computers or television, for example, but they did have tools that they themselves produced, invented and developed. So that’s technology one way or another. The same as the clothes, the “houses”, etc. There would be many centuries and many years left, until our last century more specifically, before assembly lines were invented. Thanks to these inventions, which last to this day, everything goes in chain, production, assembly and economy.

What do you need

  • Have knowledge in some of the areas to be able to develop technological projects/material.
  • Everything around us is technology in one way or another.

Tips

  • Technology has been present since times that the mind cannot reach, from the nomads, prehistory, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Greeks, etc. Since historical times, technology already existed because obviously, it has not been until our century, when technology turned around and changed. Always envisioning the future and making our lives easier and more pleasant. Before, they tried to do the same thing or tried to do it and proof of this are the buildings, the inventions they have made, things that they have left us as an inheritance.
  • Neither in other times or eras, did they have the same knowledge that they have today and that is also why it is so important that they can continue researching technological processes so that they continue to expand their knowledge, continue to contribute to the improvement of the environment, to innovations, to keep up with the frenetic pace of innovations and the demands of people who are increasingly capricious and settle for less, and so on. In short, that it also serves to continue contributing to the improvement of many diseases, operations, cures and even lives can be saved from diseases that, up to now, are incurable.
