The University of UCLA and the University of Stanford were the pioneers in projecting switched telephony as a premise of computer network management.
- It was in 1972 when the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency made the famous public demonstration of the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, known as the ARPANET. This new communications network worked in a commercialized way on said switched telephony; opening the way to important research on techniques to interconnect networks concerning packet traffic.
- To keep the network active, these universities developed new “communication protocols”, which allowed the exchange of clearer and more codable information between the computers that were connected. This is where the term Internet comes from, referring to interconnected computer networks.

- Paul Otlet: was a visionary who prematurely understood the role of a radio bookstore in connection with viewers internationally. However, he did not make a significant contribution to himself for sure.
- Leonard Kleinrock – with his publication Information Flow in Large Communication Networks, in May 1961, he contributed quite a bit; for he exposed early communication between parents and girls. Said communication was structured r packets, as the most basic technology of the network.
- Tim Berners-Lee: this character raised the creation of a project, based on hypertext; which served to share information, images, and multimedia; in other words, he pointed out the technological application of the so-called HTML programming linguistics.
- Robert Kahn and Vint Cerf: they were the developers of the main communication protocol for the operation of the Internet; the TCP/IP.
- Robert Metcalfe: was the creator of Ethernet, which is the most basic known communication standard for networked computers.
